The Patio of Our Dreams

We made it to the finish line! The landscaping is finally done! I don’t know how much longer I could have handled dirt mountains with two kids and two dogs with summer here.

When our landscapers came to us with a plan for the patio I was on board but didn't absolutely love it with every fiber of my being. Then I got the bid back and REALLY didn’t love it (~$25,000 for a paver patio with built in seating and fire pit). Our landscapers were amazing and I know would have made that look great but it just wasn’t sitting right with my heart or wallet. So I set out to find something else.

Enter Paver Turf! (https://www.paverturf.com) They make amazing pre-cut artificial turf and paver patio kits. You can buy them pre made with their measurements or get custom measurements. We got ours custom made and Gary was fantastic to work with. Here is the initial drawing he sent us.

The ground has to be prepped and leveled correctly, then you can roll out the template/weed barrier (it’s the same material), place the pavers, and finally roll out the turf into the spaces and nail it down. It also requires infill. The company is really great about educating you on all the steps.

You can buy the pavers from the same company and they will send them pre-cut. Or you can save some money and get the ones that I did from Lowe’s. The paver cost ended up being about half going through Lowe’s. Paver Link Here

Our concrete fire bowl is from Pottery Works. We bought the charcoal finish. It is heavy duty and sooooo gorgeous. We got the lava rock that is no extra charge but that was a mistake. Spend the extra money to get the tumbled lava rock or glass-trust me!! The crushed lava rock is too small to sit on top of the grate and would just fall through to the bottom, so we are going to have to spend about $350 extra to get the tumbled lava rock from Lowe’s.

I would buy these chairs over and over again! They are so beautifully sleek and the cushions are way more comfortable than I was anticipating. I love that they came with side tables. Walmart has really stepped up their patio games with this set. I bought six of them but have only put 4 together so far.

Notice we put in a flower bed surrounding the patio-I wanted to do that so the artificial turf was not right next to the grass. I thought it could pass as being more realistic that way and I love how it turned out. I also love that the turf patio is an extension of our covered patio. I can’t wait to spend summer nights out here with friends.

The two artificial trees under the covered patio are thrifted.
