A Secret Halloween Decor Hack: Beef Netting Cobwebs!
It’s the most magical time of year-Halloween is just around the corner, and you know what that means! Spooky decorations, eerie ambiance, and those classic cobwebs that make your home look like it's straight out of a horror movie. But here's a little secret that's going to save you some cash and add a unique twist to your Halloween decor - it's all about those creepy cobwebs! Ditch the dollar store cotton cobwebs and opt for fabric this year.
Before you hit that "buy now" button on Amazon for those fabric cobwebs, I've got a way to save some money and get super creative. Believe it or not, it involves something you'd never expect - beef netting, the stuff they use for packing meat.
Instead of paying roughly $15/lb on Amazon, you can snag this mystical material from a meat packaging company for about $10/lb including shipping. It usually comes in a tube, and you'll need to cut it open to create a flat piece of fabric. Whether you get it from Amazon or the meat packaging company, the tube is the same.
Easy Installation: Setting up your eerie beef netting is a piece of cake, and it's a fun project for the whole family. It's easier with an extra set of hands, but no worries, you can totally do it solo.
Here's what I did:
Hanging the Fabric
I used those metal gutter clips, found on Amazon, to hang the fabric from my gutter before I started the cutting process. It's a solid base for your cobwebs and makes the whole thing way more manageable.
Get Creative with the Cuts
Go wild with your cuts. The more random, the better. Create various sizes and directions – trust me, you can't go wrong. The netting is stretchy, giving it that authentic spooky look.
Securing the Spookiness
Once you've finished your cutting masterpiece, all you need are some landscape pins to keep the bottom parts in place. It's the finishing touch that ensures your cobwebs stay perfectly creepy. I also used small zipties to secure two sides of separate strips together if I felt like there was too much of a gap between them.
Big Savings When You Buy in Bulk
I did some price checking, and the savings are pretty sweet. Amazon sells this material at about $15 per pound, but if you go in bulk directly from the meat packaging company, it's only around $10 per pound, and that includes shipping. We love a deal!
Versatile Sizes
Just a quick note, the Amazon fabric might be wider than the bulk version, but honestly, both sizes work like a charm in creating that eerie atmosphere.
In this video I've linked, you can see the result of using 2 pounds of this magical beef netting for your reference. (I added more later)
